End of the semester...
Well, the end is here for this semester.... and if you trust ancient math and astrology and such, it may also be the end of the world... but in any case, finals are here and I'm half way done with my 4 finals... only 2 to go till I'm classified "officially" as a senior... can't believe that the people in the admin offices and other offices still think I'm a freshman... oh well... I guess they'll figure it out when I walk the stage soon... but until then, there won't be many posts until class starts back up in January since I won't have any new assignments, though I think I'll be putting a few more random pics up in probably a week or so... so keep a look out!

I need your opinion...
This is the last painting that I completed... I'd love to have some input on what you guys think of this one... its not really a Greek mythology inspired painting, but then again, it could be... I'll let you decide!
Finished Persephone painting
Persephone, Goddess of Spring, Queen of the Underworld, was my inspiration for this painting... I posted the drawing I made last time... here's the finished painting... sorry it's sideways... for some reason it won't turn so you'll just have to look at it with your screen of your head turned on its side haha :-)

Map as Art change... again!
So, the map project turned out to be a little different than I last reported... using the different colored areas as different "countries" basically and making a border out of the legend telling the viewer what each colored area represents.
The Next Greek Painting...
My next painting that is in the process of being created is of Persephone... Goddess of springtime and the Queen of the Underworld... Here's a drawing of mine that I'm basing the painting off of... It's going to be all greens and the wings aren't going to be there, but that is the basic idea...
Interesting developments in my painting class...
So, these are 2 of the pieces that I put into the student show... I'm quite proud of them... My idea was to recreate images of the Greek mythological characters... The first one here is Atlas, the Titan who was punished into holding up the sky for all eternity... the second one is Charon, the boatman who ferries the souls of the dead across the River Styx and into the Underworld, I called this one "The River Guardian"... More are in the process of being painted and will be posted as fast as I can paint them... Stay tuned!

Some inspiration...
So, since my digital art/map project is turning out to be a self portrait of sorts, I looked online to find some more portraits that were created interestingly... I found these and was blown away by the style and the overall outcome of them... Very inspiring for work on this project and my other studio classes... enjoy!

Digital Project update
So, the map as art project isn't going exactly the way I pictured it, but I think it's turning out well... its mostly typography using the different color fields of my head/face... we'll see how it turns out... wish me luck!?

Painting inspiration
Had a brilliant idea this weekend, for my painting class since there is no actual assignment per se, I am going to paint characters from Greek Mythology... So far, I think I'm going to be painting Atlas (the Titan that holds the sky), Icarus (who fell into the ocean after flying too close to the sun on his wax based wings), and Cerberus (the three headed guard dog of the Underworld).... any others sound intriguing? I could use the input....

Map as Art
Main idea for this digital project is a map of my mind...
Planning on taking a picture of my own head in profile and scanning it in to the computer and creating different sections of my mind.
We'll see how it goes...

Digital Class Assignment Link...
Since we had to find an article from the New York Times to make a graphic image to promote, here's the article I chose... It's about how the Cuban government is taking away the need for its citizens to have an exit visa to leave the country along with their passport and visa from whatever other country they are going to... I found it kind of interesting...

Strange Inspiration
Not quite sure why, but I found these creepy pictures fascinating and inspirational... I think I'm going to mess around with some scary effects in art since it is Halloween time.

Fabulous glass
kitty cat bead that I painted this weekend, only about the size of my little finger nail... small paintbrush!
these beads were clear until last night, got them on my trip to Turks and Caicos along with the stains to color them. so much funTuesday, October 2, 2012
Inspiration for printmaking class...
Next project is a relief print... saw this picture while looking around online and thought it was cute. Going to be cutting a similar image into the linoleum block for the project....

Project Terminated
So, I had posted a little bit ago that I was going to be attempting some art with black powder, well that project went up in smoke... Literally... The powder was ignited and the wax was basically disintegrated... SO... I'll have to rethink the ingredients to tweak this project into amazing-ness... Will update when I figure out I'm going to do that.

Painting Job
Got my first official artist job doing some wall art for a friend of my sister... The inspiration for the project is this amazing flower picture that I found while looking for new wallpapers for my cell phone...
Project Update
For one of my classes that I'm in this semester I'm working on a print. Just a simple embossing while I learn the secrets of the Printmaking Press that we have available for use in the lab.

The next part of the project is going to be to create a sort of intaglio plate from a drawing... I happen to be using the same picture for the 2nd part of the project

Inspiring
Found this picture while looking around at images on google with a friend of mine. So intriguing and inspiring though I'm not quite sure why, probably the bold red. Might possibly be doing some paintings like this if I get the chance.
New Project in Progress
Working on integrating pyrotechnics in an art project that I'm starting. Molten waxes, black powder and dyes are in the very near future. Should be interesting or fail miserably. So let's hope it's interesting. Pictures will be up as soon as I can get them!
